StageVFX Live – Software for interactive 3D visuals
In developmentOverview
StageVFX Live is a software platform developed by StageVFX that provides an accessible workflow for creating, controlling and performing interactive 3D visuals powered by Unreal Engine.
The platform brings together concepts and workflows from 3D software, live AV tools and music production software. Rather than requiring users to work directly within Unreal Engine, StageVFX Live aims to provide a more approachable environment for building and controlling real-time 3D visual experiences.
Unlike the other projects in this portfolio, this is an ongoing software development project. My role focuses on bridging the creative, technical and user-facing sides of the platform, translating our experience with live visuals into practical software workflows and features.

My role
My role focuses on defining how StageVFX Live should function from a creative user's perspective and translating those ideas into workflows that can be implemented together with our software developers.
My responsibilities include:
- Concepting software workflows, features and user interactions
- Designing wireframes and defining how users navigate and interact with the software
- Translating creative and technical requirements into development tasks and maintaining the development backlog
- Coordinating the development pipeline and collaborating directly with software developers
- Testing new functionality and documenting bugs, usability issues and technical problems
- Organising and evaluating user playtest sessions
- Iterating on workflows and features based on testing and user feedback
- Developing visual and technical content used within the software
- Building and testing Unreal Engine systems that connect with the StageVFX Live workflow
A major part of this process is connecting workflows I know from AV production, 3D creation and music software. This allows me to approach development from the perspective of the people who will eventually use the platform while learning how those creative requirements translate into software architecture and development.
